“This band just started out, but you’d never know it cause they’re slick as hell. They play catchy electro-rock in mostly English, with the occasional lirica en espanol. Puerto Rican singer Monica Rodriguez has an eye for fashion and ensures their live shows are a good time for everyone.”

"With a sound that balances melody, a strong delivery and a stylish stage presence, New York-based Zigmat has developed a solid following and continues to spark interest way beyond the confines of the Lower East Side’s rock circuit." - Oscar León Bernal - www.nyremezcla.com - Oscar León Bernal

Zigmat - self titled EP -

Z I G M A T >>> is an explosive four-piece electro rock band from New York City. Their mixture of electronics, live rock, and Latin dance beats is often compared to the Brazilian Girls, Metric, Daft Punk, and the Yeah Yeah Yeah's. Singer Monica Rodriguez's bilingual lyrics, unpredictable light shows, and audience interaction combine to form an exhilarating, multi-faceted performance. Soon after forming in 2006, Zigmat began playing around New York City's East Village in clubs such as Piano's, Nublu, and Fontana's, garnering a reputation as an unforgettable high-energy outfit. After selling out the well-known Mercury Lounge, they were invited to participate in rock festivals CMJ and LAMC, as well as fund raisers for Engineers Without Borders and The East Harlem Tutorial Program. Their debut self-titled album was released in 2007 and has had airplay in New York, Los Angeles, and around the world. Their single, "So Sure," was chosen by award-winning Chilean filmmaker Tevo Diaz to make into a music video. The album has already been licensed for films as well as garnered rave review from Batanga, Time Out New York, and numerous other publication and blogs. Zigmat continues to play around New York City and is planning a nationwide tour in 2008.
