Discography

Zina Prince's debut album - Aliens, Alcoholics and Other Places I've Been - is currently under production and the anticipated release date is January 27th, 2015.

About the album:

Over the course of her career, Montreal-based singer-songwriter Zina Prince has developed into a full- fledged multidisciplinary artist. Since the release of her three-song demo in 2011, Zina Prince took a musical hiatus to focus on developing visual content for Playboy.com. She accumulated a wealth of experience that has fueled the concept for her debut full-length album, Aliens, Alcoholics and Other Places I've Been.

Performing since the age of five, Zina Prince is no stranger to the stage. As a trained jazz vocalist, her unique style paired with her passion for an array of genres has filled her musical journey with collaborative projects in the realms of pop, funk, blues and jazz.

Aliens, Alcoholics and Other Places I've Been was born from personal life experiences on the road during Zina's time with Playboy: the highs and lows of an unrequited and toxic affair, the high heels and smoke machines as seen by a woman in a man‘s world, and most importantly, the loneliness that creeps in from being on the road for just way too long.

Zina's raw lyrical expression mixed with her intriguing, affecting and dynamic voice play up the subversive and sinister aspects of her lyrics. Fans of Erykah Badu, Amy Winehouse, Billy Holiday and Carmen McRae would be sure to find familiar textures and tones in her melodies. The infectious use of the 808 throughout the album softens her often harrowing words, breaking down some of the conventions of contemporary R&B.

Aliens, Alcoholics and Other Places I've Been will take the listener on a ride down a path less travelled. As Zina Prince can attest, it’s not where you’re going but where you’ve been that gives you a story to tell.
