CLASSY IS THE WORD!!!!!How often these days do you get a revelation in music?!,ofcourse once in a while we hear excellent albums that will turn into favorites for many years to come but that extasy experience belongs more to the past with the classics.....until now,I had this album lying beside me that didn?t look to be anything special but you know the saying-never judge a book by it?s cover and that goes for artwork for cd?s as well coz after the first 20 seconds of the opening track "Fearless" on this album by a cute guy from L.A called ZIV-I totally freaked out-I was stunned and after hearing the whole record I had to call up my good friend Magnus (A&R Guru) in Stockholm just to say how amazing the album is.

I believed it to be more alternative rock sounding or maybe singer/songwriter kinda because Ziv draw influences from U2 and Colplay but let me tell you ladies and gents,this is pure melodic AOR/Pop like a mix between Chris Thompson (Manfred Mann) and Seal.
Ziv likes to write piano/keyboard oriented songs but also plays 80% of the guitar,then if you put in a singer with the same incredible voice as John Farnham and Chris Thompson-you?ll get ZIV.

It?s so nice to hear something produced and recorded that aint modern rock,punkpop,numetal,emo or postgrunge.
I don?t know about you guys or the others here at melodic.net but ZIV has recorded this year?s best indie release,spiritual lyrics and special melodies emotionally performed by a supertalented musician/singer/songwriter that has to be signed or otherwise they can shut down the whole record business.

Bio
Ziv (the person/group founder) was born in Israel and moved to LA when he was 5. He has been writing songs his whole life. He sings, plays piano and plays guitar. As a former solo artist, Ziv worked mostly alone to write, produce and record 2 studio albums and 1 acoustic album starting with the release of Fearless (2005). He has sold nearly 15,000 CD's independently. In the midst of that workload, he would find time to set up his battery powered PA and perform solo acoustic sets all around LA.
After a 2 year recovery from severely overused vocal cords, Ziv slowly trained his voice back to health and released his second studio album Paper and Sound (2008). Not long after, Ziv started looking for a steady group of musicians that would stay with him instead of the hired guns he had been working with up till then. A tough task in the notoriously jaded LA music scene. After juggling spots for a bit, a group of talented, dedicated and mostly sane musicians fell into place. Kenny, from Boulder, Colorado, plays bass and sings background, and Mark, a recent transplant to LA from Croswell, MI, plays drums. Together they form the alternative rock band that resides in Los Angeles when not on tour.
ZIV is now working on their third and highly anticipated album and is soon to be heading off on a two moth tour across the central US.
Explain ZIV vs. Ziv?
We use the letters z i v in two ways:
- ZIV, in all caps, refers to the band as a whole.
- Ziv, with just the capital Z means, "Ray of light from the sun" and is Ziv's first name.
Both are pronounced 'zeev'.
How did you meet? How long have you been a band?
Ziv was a solo artist up until 2008. Ziv and Kenny put up ads simultaneously, one for a bassist, one for a band and soon found each other. Soon after a drummer was hired through similar means, but Ziv forgot he had one more audition, and that ended up being Mark.
What inspires you?
None of us can imagine doing anything else. We are addicted to the synergy between everything that happens when music is made.
How do we get along on the road?
We get along well considering how much time we spend together. Touring has it's up's and down's but can be more of a vacation then LA, where all the work really happens.
How do we write?
Music first then lyrics. Except a few where inspiration strikes. Song ideas are usually brought in by Ziv and sussed out by the rest of us together.
