DJ Zkosta grew up in Austin, Tx and attended Bowie and Austin High School. After graduating High School he then decided to go to Texas State and Study Business Finance at the McCoy School of business. After three years at Texas State he was growing weary of the major he had picked, and found himself in disillisionment. He was unsatisfied with the path he was headed down. The path of mediocrity. He had an unfullfilled desire waiting to be released. During the Summer of 2008 after personal issues had brought Zkosta to his crescendo in San Marcos, so decided to do something he always wanted to do, DJ. The journey had begun. Previously Zkosta had been experimenting with production and engineering because he was interested in music, but unsure of what avenue to venture towards. He bought his first set of tables at the age of 21 to help make mixtapes for the artists he had been working with. Consequently, he picked up the decks and never put them back down. For the past three years Zkosta has hosted raves in Austin with companies such as Area 512, underground ent. He has also done his own promotions in venues like Speakeasy, District 301, Austin Music Gym. He has also held residency at the following clubs in austin; Speakeasy Kabaret & Terrace 59, District 301/Betsies Bar, Ivy Lounge, Trophy Room Bar, Lodge, Canvas, Fuze. Zkosta has played virtually every venue in Austin, and Dj'ed Big events with Hurricane Chris, Bizzy Bone, slim thug, young joc, z-ro, treal lee, crizzly, dj exceed and Voodoo Festival in New Orleans, and SXSW the past two years. After conquering the club scene in Austin Zkosta decided to finish up with school in Lubbock, Texas. He Now currently holds residency at Melt Lounge,Kongs, and Taboo and does promotional events four times a week, while attending school as a full time student at Texas Tech. He is also has finished two mixtapes, and is nearly done with a moombahton EP. He has been featured in multiple blogs, and has a list of tracks on www.hypem.com. His influences are DJ AM, DJ ZTRIP, ATRAK, JAYCEEOH, ABETHEASSASIN, WOLFGANG GARTNER, FRANCIS PREVE, DANNY DIGGZ, CROOKLYN CLAN WEBSITE, DJ EMYND, MIKE 2500, TITTSWORTH, BIRD PETERSON, RUSKO, TIESTO, MILES DYSON, DAVE AUDE, KILL THE NOISE, LAIDBACK LUKE, CHUCKIE, AFROJACK, DJ FOX, DOUGLAS GREED,DEADMAU5, Dave Nada, Diplo, Munchi, Dillon Francis. If you wanted to sum up his set of music it would be a collaboration of all these artists styles in every tempo from 60-160. He uses transitions, technical mixing, turntablists technics to mix every genre of music. His set is never redundant and full of twists and turns, with an emphasis of live mixing.
