Bio

As a nineteen-year-old songwriter attending Visible Music College in the heart of Memphis, Tennessee, Zoë Delaney’s art has begun to flourish like a refreshing breath of air after being underwater. Living among at least one hundred other skilled musicians, her talent as a quiet - but confident star is plain to see by everyone around her.
Growing up in Marinette, Wisconsin, Zoë Delaney is looking to shine light onto a new indie/folk style of music in a hometown that clings onto it’s past. Torn by a hostage situation and continued drug use in 2010, her hometown influenced her songs to bring love to the broken places. Although she is specifically aiming her music towards high school and college aged students, she desires to reach out and spread hope and truth into the lives of anyone who has ears to hear. Writing songs such as ‘Little Bird’ with lyrics such as: “What’s the use of having wings if you’re never going to use them at all?” is one of the ways Zoë Delaney inspires her listeners to fight through fear and have confidence in the person they were created to be.
One of her greatest lyrical influences is the indie rock band Mewithoutyou. Their colorful and creative metaphors inspire her to create songs that paint a truthful picture in new and fresh way. Musically, Zoë Delaney is influenced by one of her favorite bands Karen O And The Kids, who created the soundtrack for the children’s movie Where The Wild Things Are. She instantly fell in love with the earthy, playful, and warm sound of the band, and was inspired to use that creative palate as a springboard to breathe fresh air into her melodically whimsical folk songs. Zoë Delaney shows a playful side with her songs like “The Candyman”, by telling the story of falling in love with a candyman in a setting where the world is created out of candy. She also gets real with her songs like “No One (Grows Into Their Own Heart)” using the lyrics “Somehow we’ll make it through the storm that wants us dead. You and me we’ll fight till the end.” There is a working variety within her music that reaches out to everyone around her.
Along with continued songwriting, Zoë Delaney has just produced a new EP, called Leap Year. The EP is inspired from her journey so far as a student and a songwriter.
