The band, that consist of four members, has what it takes to be in heavy rotation on anyone’s iPod. With the release of their new album, Basement Brew, Zodiak creates a sound that is genuine and accomplished.
Basement Brew combines the soulful sounds of our Nation’s Capital with a plethora of individual influences. At times it feels like a jazz record. One Earth-year ago, four intergalactic spirits joined forces to form a magnificent creature: Zodiak. Cemented together by an invincible weld of pure funk and soul, Zodiak is on a mission to gift her audience with a spellbinding experience of intimacy. The band hails entirely from the District and boasts a variety of musical backgrounds ranging from classical training to basement boogies. Their music is a sonic blend of R&B, jazz, and go-go that has captivated audiences all along the East Coast.
This winter Zodiak uttered her first growl. Their freshman studio album, Basement Brew, “has what it takes to be in heavy rotation on anyone’s iPod” (VibesAndVino.com, 2016). Though the studio album has been received with great warmth, Zodiak’s strength lies in their live shows. They brings love and light to all their performances, and aim to party more than perform!
