Zoom, Sleepy Ted Comes Back To This World (More Recordings)
The First track off Zoom's debut impressed me and prepared me for the worst. "Sleppy Ted" is a near-'perfect recreation of the The Who, circa 1967. Credit former Multiple Places guitarist Settly and Dash Rip Rock Drummer Kyle Melancon for the Labor-of-love concept and enthusiatic execution, but recreations are still just copies. To my pleasant surprise, from that point on Sleepy Ted Comes Back... takes on its own identity and turns out to be a great collection of slightly psychedelic rock that touches on both sides of the Atlantic. "Public Diplay" has the feel of a Townshend anthem and ringing Rickenbakers and the occasional harmonies suggest the mod scene, but tracks like "Come Back to This World (Part 2)" and "Peace of Mind" are melodic indie pop gems that are contemporary and original, and Settly scores points for a clever production job. And closer, Wire's "12XU", is one of the greatest punk songs ever. A- Mark Miester

Bio
Started in 1998 After working as an engineer, Settly recorded is own CD ep "Sleepy Ted comes Back to this world" with three other New Orleans Musicians.
He recruited Dash Rip Rock drummer Kyle Melancon and Local upcomer Scott Crochet to lay down the rhythm section and a new band was formed.
Now Settly has Andy Kirch taking over the duties on Bass and things couldn't be better. ZOOM has just finished recording the first full length lp and soon will be shopping for a label.
There power pop, rhythm and punk music has a sound all it own and people are beginning to listen.
