'Of muziek maken voelt als jutten?' Violist/zanger Robert Orvalho knikt. 'Per dag krijg je visueel en auditief veel binnen. Niet iedereen maakt overal gebruik van. Velen blijven in één straatje. Wij zijn niet bang alles te verzamelen en mixen.' Carlos: 'Wil je onze muziek toch een naam geven, kies dan: mestizo pop.' Mestizo is een woord voor muzikale cocktails als die van Manu Chao en Mala Vita. De acht muzikanten zijn naast jutters ook reisleiders. Hun myspace meldt: 'Ze nemen het publiek mee op een trip door Mexico, Parijs, Colorado, Broek op Langedijk, Sevilla en Hongarije'. In Amsterdam vonden de uit diverse Europese landen afkomstige Zoritanen een nieuw thuis. Zo liggen de wortels van de twee meter lange drummer Zoli Soos in Hongarije. Carlos die zichzelf Zorita's founding father noemt, is Spaans-Belgisch. Zorita nam in 2010 deel aan de Popronde en behaalde de tweede plaats bij de Publieksprijs van de finale van de Grote Prijs van Nederland. 'Dat was een te gek concert', aldus Robert. 'Lekker spelen voor een volle zaal.' Zorita speelde in 2010 ook op Lowlands. Het nieuwe jaar startte met drie concerten op Altersonic tijdens Eurosonic. Carlos: 'We dromen voor 2011 van een festivalzomer en een theatertour in de winter. Maar onze CD komt waarschijnlijk pas dit najaar uit. Dat is wat laat om in 2011 nog een theatertour te starten.' Zorita was blij producer Vesko Kounchev te ontmoetten. 'Het is negentig procent zeker dat deze man (bekend van Calexico en Manu Chao) aan ons album wil meewerken.' - FRET Magazine

Zorita are a raucous rousing rabble. The bands bohemian music boasts an eclectic mix of instruments like the accordion, trumpet and violin. In combination with bass, drums and guitars, as well as frontman Carlos Zorita Diaz raw voice, this creates a completely unique sound. Blending influences from South America, the Mediterranean and Folk music, an evening with Zorita is guaranteed to breathe life into any party. Dutch Success Story
Zorita impressed judges and audiences in the finals of competitions like De Grote Prijs van Nederland (2010) and the Amsterdamse Popprijs (2009) . In the Dutch Popronde, Zorita wowed audiences nationwide. The past three years saw these seasoned musicians play dozens of festivals like SAIL 2010, Fiesta Mundial and Lowlands both inside and outside the Netherlands.
Amor Y Muerte
Zorita spent two years polishing their songs in close collaboration with famed Dutch rock producer Danny Gras before presenting the results to the masses in 2012. Distributed by Suburban, it received universal acclaim in Belgium and the Netherlands. The album immediately soared to the number 1 spot in the Dutch Alternative record charts, outperforming household names like Jack White.
Zorita: El Classico
Worldwide sportscaster ESPN used the energy of Zoritas song The Clyster of the World to promote El Classico, the Champions League confrontation of Real Madrid and Barcelona. Described by Dutch magazines as world class musicians, every one of them and absolutely sensational both on stage and on CD, radio broadcaster 3FM says Zorita is absolutely unique.
