Biography

Zoya Mohan was born in New Delhi, India and was raised through most of her life in Newport Beach, California. Accepted into two art high schools, she realized her desire was to move her art career more towards music rather than the visual arts and dance. At Happy Valley School in Ojai, CA, Zoya began her career in performing and songwriting as the lead singer of various bands and ensembles. Soon after, she auditioned to get into Orange County High School of the Arts and was accepted into OCHSA’s Commercial Voice Conservatory. It was not long before Zoya was surrounded with music. She received an offer to write and sing for an international organization for human trafficking named iSanctuary. Through iSanctuary Zoya was introduced to her potential as a singer/songwriter and she began performing on many stages at the school, solo or with her band A to Z, and at venues throughout Southern California (i.e. The Winery, Gypsy Den, Alta Café, Sawdust Festival, Margaret A. Webb Theatre, the Orange County Performing Arts Center). Ms. Mohan has worked as a singer for KCAA radio station in California and also has recorded three albums. Her second album, Rip Up Nostalgia, debuted on iTunes in 2009 and the last album, Come Out & Play EP, was produced in the summer of 2011 by Phil Patterson and engineered by Smiley Sean, Sound Engineer for artists Tommy Lee, Dead Mau5 & Skrillex. Currently, Zoya is a voice principal studying songwriting, music business and guitar at world-renowned music university, Berklee College of Music.
