Bio

Zuri is multifaceted andalusian artist with a long trajectory in the music business. Able to play a lot of instruments, he is also a reputated produced and composer. He started playing rock until he discovered “flamenco” music, fact that made Zuri learn and study classical spanish guitar and “cante” (typical flamenco vocals) from the 90s until nowadays. After that he started to aply his andalusian talent and flow into other generes like rap, reggae and world music. In brief, Zuri has composed and worked with mainstream bands like Ojos de Brujo, Danza Invisible, Chico Fargas or La Carmen amongst others. He has also worked in commercial ads, theatre, circus and also producing diferent bands in his own studio.

At the begining of the present decade he starts flirting with jamaican music recording a song called “Ojos Rojos” for a one riddim reggae album, song that gets very popular in Spain and shows Zuri the way to mix his musical roots with the reggae beats.

After three years working with Zur (rap flamenco fusion band) and two years touring all over the world with the mainstream band Ojos de Brujo (world music), Zuri sets up his own studio in Marbella (Málaga, Spain) and starts composing, producing, playing and mixing his first solo reggae album. He plays most of the instruments of the album and that makes “Candela” a very personal and original album as it mixes reggae with the roots of andalusian flow and music.

Zuri is backed at his shows by the popular barcelonian backing band Ranking Soldiers, a reputated spanish band that plays regularly in Spain and Southamerica with artists like Morodo, Derrick Morgan, Dr.Ring-Ding or Tippa Irie amongst others.
