"Big Steve Gee – ‘Nikki’ A New House Single!"

Miami-based producer Big Steve Gee’s latest offering, “Nikki,” off his forthcoming EP Monogamy, is a hypnotic deep-house track that’s laidback, but laced with an infectious mix of late-night warehouse stabs, twinkling piano riffs, and fuzzy bass.

From beginning to end, the track takes listeners on a journey with the titular character, Nikki, who “skips down the streets at sunset only to watch it settle beneath the horizon,” as Gee himself describes it.

It’s a tune that inspires curiosity: like Nikki herself, the song is peripatetic, going down different paths and grooves. Just as she begins to get lost in the circular rhythms of synth jabs and treble-heavy keys, the bass starts throbbing through again, constant, and slightly threatening.

A bit more stripped-down than a lot of what’s coming out under the genre label of house lately, the track’s a welcome departure – in more ways than one.

For us, it clearly evokes a girl lost in thought walking through a foggy metropolis. Nothing but neon and halogen splashes pierce the mist. The bass, like a downtuned car horn wakes her from her reverie, only to realize she’s back where she began. And that’s okay: - Dj Mag

"Friday Freebies"

Our next freebie is a track simply named “Kim” from the likes of Big Steve Gee. The song immediately sets an Oriental theme with its string-work and keeps the energy pumping while still incorporating some nice keys. This is House at its finest, not to mention it’s free. - EDM Chicago - Amir

"Big Steve Gee – Kim [Free Download]"

“Kim” is a person who lives in Japan and gave Big Steve Gee the ride of his life, but please get your mind out of the gutter. The literal drive prompted the creation of this song, which the producer is giving out for free, despite it coming out on his upcoming EP, Monogamy. This smooth tech house single does have a strong Asian vibe, with Eastern influences coming out strong in the track’s composition. “Kim” is a solid record that shows you don’t have to go balls to the wall (or one deeper) to make a good house tune. Big Steve created something that he could call his own and it shows. He is paving his own road, and I can only hope the rest of the EP is this intriguing. Grab the download and be ready for the full project to drop. - YourEDM - Tyler Trew

"Whats A Coachella Music Package (2086 The Boomin Bass Machine)"

I have been hearing a lot about this “Coachella” lately. Whatever it is, apparently they will have a lot of music there, as well as people dancing and having a good time. Well, I know all you need is the internet to conjure those things into existence, so I have compiled a music package with purchasable tracks, free downloads and a few mixes for those of us who aren’t in Southern California. Alright, so I know what Coachella is, you got me. It still doesn’t disregard the fact that you want music, especially if you can’t manage to watch the Coachella streams (Day 1 here).

The dozen players you will go through feature ten songs and two downloadable mixes, so you’re repertoire should be stocked after having some time with this package. Starting off with our girl Dani Deahl and her fiery collaboration with Animale, the journey will take you to a Monstercat single from Rootkit, a freebie from Topher Jones, a Sporty-O remix of Outkast and two hour long sets [Big Steve Gee 2086 The Boomin Bass Machine] . Free music from some talented up-and-comers can also be found along the way to complete the virtual Coachella experience. Hopefully next year those of us who are missing out can make it to the real thing! - Tyler T

"Thirsty Thursday With Big Steve Gee, Goon Bags, MopTop, Dave Silcox & Friends"

It’s Thursday. You’re probably going out or having people over to recharge your batteries for Friday and the rest of the weekend. You have drinks, you have some music, but you may not have these. Here, in this Thirsty Thursday roundup, I have compiled some interesting tunes that will spice up your night even more than trying a new alcoholic beverage will. These are not your standard EDM tracks.

Sure, Dave Silcox single, “Spark It Up” is electro/big room, but it’s not that repackaged sound that has been making its rounds through Beatport. Certainly Goon Bags VIP of “Rockin To The Realest” isn’t ordinary; jersey club isn’t your everyday thing and this is particularly dope. Neither is MopTop‘s future remix of “Cupid’s Chokehold,” although the style is becoming increasingly sought after (for good reason). And this dude straight kills it. Only “The Lights” from Phil Kahan is anything normal, yet it’s poppy house sound I couldn’t shake. I had to include it. We’ll just say that “Girls Tipsy,” from Gregor Salto, East & Young and MC Spyder, makes up for it, because that is one weird and epic single. It also happens to be my favorite of the bunch.

These tunes are for those of you who want to take a step out on a ledge and have a good time (please don’t literally step out on a ledge, though). Five tracks may not be enough for that, so we also included lengthy mix from Big Steve Gee from his Electric Effect series. Dig in, share and enjoy.
