Bio

Bo Green has never been tied down by one genre, but Americana has always been the underlying theme. In the late ‘80s, Bo played front man to Toronto punk band the Jiks while simultaneously gigging as a solo country act. Among the many country songs Bo wrote during this period were some of his finest hurtin’ tunes, like “Your Love Puts Me To Shame” and “The Bells Ain’t Ringin’”.

After moving to Vancouver in 1990, Bo put together folk-rock group Green Achers. He fronted the band and identified the sound as "garage folk”. He wrote most of the songs for this up-beat ensemble, including country gems “She Took Her Sweet Time”, “The Same Old Lie”, and “It Still Rains”. Over the next 5 years, the band was a mainstay in Vancouver and the Pacific Northwest, and recorded an eponymous indie release with producer Kevin Finseth (Alpha Yaya Diallo), to criticial acclaim, and later a self-produced EP called "The Same Old Lie".

Back in Toronto, Bo established Bo Green & The New Jakes, playing with some of the hottest young players in the city. He released a nine-song album in 2013, titled "It Don't Weigh Nuthin'", dedicated to a friend who was murdered in Vancouver in a random act of violence. Co-produced by Matthew Bailey, the record featured many of the players Bo has played with since returning to T.O., including Mike Eckert (dobro and steel guitar), Lucas Gadke (bass), Ben Plotnick (fiddle).

Since then, Bo has released a string of folk-themed singles, as he continues refining his songwriting, his performance, and his producing.
