"CAVIL (USA) "Cavil" CD 2017 (Self-published)"

The US group CAVIL launches its first work, with a homonymous title and that has been published in its own way. The production mixes and masters are the responsibility of Kevin Brooks in Landmark Recording Co, the drum recording is by Adam Schoeller in No Coast and the design of the artwork is the work of Alexandre Goulet.

Formed in Springfield, Missouri, the band consists of Nils Seubold, Dylan McBride, Josh Hardin and Kevin Brooks.

"Coeptum" is the first track on the album, where they open us with strange sounds that change the silence, and prepare us to enter fully with some very powerful riffs from the hand of "Rock Bottom", second track of the album, where nothing more to begin the voice takes an extraordinary presence, endowing the subject with great aggression. They delight us with some very powerful guitars, loaded with bass sounds, that mixed with frenetic drum rhythms, result in very careful and aggressive compositions in equal parts. In the refrains we have some more repetitive rhythms, where the voice is in charge of giving dynamism, while giving way to a very dark and powerful breakdowns.

In the middle of the work we come across "Of Despair" that presents us with a very hot song with certain electronic sounds, for the moment we start to waste tralla through combinations of guitars, bass and drums that maintain a frenetic rhythm. Alternating between fast rhythms and aggressive breakdowns, they give on the key, with a good mix that makes each of the compositions entertaining, which they complement with a voice very well positioned in the melody.

"Blood Tithe" sounds in seventh place, with some more catchy rhythms, which are responsible for giving us the first riffs of the subject, then give us more aggressive sounds, with a multitude of nuances and sharp sounds to setback, which create a great contrast. The voice remains quite flat, missing some of the variety that gave us so far, based on very deep gutturals, but quite continuous.

The theme in charge of closing the work is "The Innocence", which, to be the last, they have put all the meat in the spit, where they delight us, just to start, with a set of guitars, drums and bass expended, that The greatness of the subject advances us. The variety is served, with many aggressive compositions, and mixed with others much more powerful, where the voice is above everything, accompanied by only a sharp and dark guitar. No doubt a great theme, very varied, to close a great job.

This first work of CAVIL is a success in almost every way, giving us a great deathcore album with a variety and aggressiveness worthy of already consolidated groups. They compose some themes with big breakdowns, atrocious guitars and very strong drums that together with the guttural voice, result in nine major cuts, where the mixture of composition and production make this a great job. Despite this, in certain themes, the voice is somewhat flat, continuist, leaving us a little wanting to maintain the same tone as in previous issues. But a small gesture that does not overshadow everything else, realizing that we are facing a great job to which we must undoubtedly listen to it. - Necromance

Bio

We came together because there was a lack of heavy music in Springfield, MO. To put it simply we wanted to be the heaviest band in area, state, country.....world? Alright maybe that's going too far, but we wanted to be heavy as shit! We pulled together influences ranging from Slipknot and Meshuggah, to more modern day deathcore acts such as The Acacia Strain and Oceano, and put them together in a sound all our own. Our musical aim is complete sonic annihilation.
