Bio

I CityThaBarber born Nashaun Jackson in the slums of the Bedstuy neighborhood in Brooklyn, New York to his mother Marion Jackson and to a father unknown; always had a passion for music. After a short stint in Brooklyn, I along with my 7 siblings settled in on the east side of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania in a drug infested area called Homewood. At grandmas house is where that passion for music turned into "love".  I first started displaying my love for art by participating in school plays, miming at church events and writing and performing my original poetry. A gift that later proved to be a great talent and a means to release some inner demons. Scarred from being torn away from my siblings and thrown into child protective services; needed to find a way to cope with the pain. Music became an instrumental part in the development of " CityThaBarber " not only as an artist but as a person.  After meeting Lavell " Foxx " Williams while attending Bethany College in 2004, we decided to form a group called Nu-Era. While staying on campus, we worked with Tom Furbee in the music department, writing and recording songs. After gaining a little notoriety, we began performing at Bubbas Bison Bar and was selected as winners at Bethany College Talent Show. So we were selected to be the opening act for Lloyd Banks Concert at Bethany College. After college life took a turn for the worse. I lost my mother and father who raised me and dropped out of college. Like most lost souls seeking a place to call home, I turned to the streets and began selling drugs. Didn't take long before I was in a cell and sentenced to 21 months in a federal prison camp on a distribution charge for a controlled substance. Once my time was completed and I was released I decided that I was going to put my all into developing and owning my craft. Music is a way to express what it is I seen and also a way to paint a picture of LIFE from my line of view. I got a story to tell and I plan to tell my story to the WORLD! I'm CityThaBarber... Line them UP!
