"Dirty Money"

"Seattle Singer Songwriter David Guilbault's baritone voice is velvety-smooth and sand-paper rough at the same time (how does he do that?). I like his song Dirty Money because it takes me back to the days when country stars like Merle Haggard and Johnny Cash picked up electric guitars and let some of the edge and the anger come out. Dirty Money is the perfect get-away soundtrack for the movie when the bad guys are really the good guys; the lyrics are dark but the vibe surfs." - Andy Roo Forrest - Blog - Andy Roo Forrest

"David Guilbault"

"A former news producer for MSNBC, CNN and ABC, Guilbault's songs possess a raw poignancy that can only be viewed thru the prism of a man whose seen all the good, bad and ugly life has to offer."

"New EP by "Guilbault & Nelson""

Seattle singer-songwriter, David Guilbault offers a pair of honest tales of fear and redemption. Two songs taking dark Americana themes enlightened somewhat with an Art-Pop sensibility curiously reminiscent of latter David Bowie. First, "That Punishing Rain" looks at weathering the encroaching storms of life, while "Now is Over" speaks to standing one's ground against the vagaries of time... "Singer-Songwriter Contest"

David Guilbault got hooked on folk music in the sixties listening to such folk revival troubadours as Bob Dylan, Tom Paxton, Fred Neil, Tom Rush, Gordon Lightfoot and Eric Andersen. Whenever he felt introspective or inspired, David reached for his guitar and songs fell out. That music of a lifetime was mostly put aside as he pursued a career as a network television news producer, but you can't keep songs quietly waiting, they want to be heard. For the past decade, David has taken to coffee house, art gallery and festival stages in the Pacific Northwest to finally share his music. - New Jersey Folk Festival

Bio

Seattle singer-songwriter David Guilbault writes, records and performs soulful music of life, love and loss - heartfelt songs that live in the truth.

Mr. Guilbault spent a rewarding career as an award-winning news producer for ABC News, CNN and MSNBC.com.  As a journalist, in pursuit of the credible truth, Mr. Guilbault reported stories as objectively as possible.  Now, as a performing songwriter, pursing more universal truths, he can tell stories with a more subjective eye.

To that end, David has been performing for the past decade in intimate venues around Seattle.  Lately, he has been gathering other notable musicians in the Pacific Northwest to play band shows and record his extensive repertoire of original songs.

David has performed as a solo and duo acoustic act all over Seattle for years, playing places like Egan’s Ballard Jam House, The Royal Room, Tiny Ninja Cafe, Cafe Racer, Skylark, C&P Coffee, Pegasus Coffee House, the High Fidelity, High Dive, Lo-Fi and Couth Buzzard.

Last year David performed around town with his electric band, culminating with a show on the Fountain Lawn Stage at the Northwest Folklife Festival.

Lately he has been gigging as a solo act again, slinging his custom-made Esquire electric guitar and playing through his sweet, drippy, reverb/delay/chorus-laden pedal board.

2014 has seen the release of two new EP’s – “True,” produced by Chris Klimecky and “Bare,” produced by Jason Goessl.

"True" is all about writing honestly, looking with a courageous eye at romantic relationships, political malfeasance, gender manipulations, selfish dreams, poetic inspirations and karmic justice. David sings the songs, while Chris Klimecky does all the arrangement, instrumentation, production and engineering.  ("True" - http://davidguilbault.bandcamp.com/album/aint-nothin-but-the-truth)

"Bare" tells an unrelentingly sad and unapologetic story of loneliness, isolation, hurt and heartbreak. David  sings low and sad, backed by the soulful baritone guitar of Jason Goessl and the tearful pedal steel guitar of Steve Norman. The lyrics are raw. The music is spare. The recording is intimate. This is the truth laid bare.  ("Bare" - http://davidguilbault.bandcamp.com/album/bare)

You can download some of David's recorded work on BandCamp (http://davidguilbault.bandcamp.com/).  His songs fit nicely into the Americana, Folk-Rock and Alt-Country genres.
