Downhome

You can’t retrieve it, cause once you leave it, Downhome's just a memory. Our story starts to cook ten years ago in 2006. There were two rascally teens that made home between garage walls. They shut in to burst out, and freedom came with callus fingers and bleeding palms. Sound wrapped and rolled us like sensimilla. Competing with absolutely no one but ourselves and our neurotic demands for constantly improving expression. As loud, messy teenage years were fleeting we took our journeys.

Rafa Correa , (percussionist, recording artist, key player, and producer) spent the following years sharpening. Cutting through hot, dense party digs with the turn of a table. He learned the ways of rhythm, composition, and industry. Andy Reid, (lyricist, instrumentalist, and writer) took the less stepped trail as a younger man. He traveled like a silver ball in a western U.S. themed pinball machine. Each state, town, relationship, molding a new musical style. Paying dues, burning on live stages, and scribbling lyrics enough to need a bengay regiment. He, overtime, carved out a unique voice and crafting ability. In the summer of 2015 Rafa and Andy met up once more to split rent on a trailer in the middle of a canyon, which would soon be modified into Downhome studios.

Surroundings of hillside and burro proved to inspire. We had wedged ourselves into a beautiful, lucrative musical environment. The next six months we dug into something brand new for both of us. A sound that complemented yet contrasted our individual musical styles. We could feel that sweet honey drip, that giddy velvet itch
