Bio

International guitarist, multi-instrumentalist and award-winning producer, Duffmusiq is poised to release his much-anticipated debut solo album, Soulleash, this coming Spring 2017
For this dynamic new recording, Duffmusiq has produced music imbedded
with his trademark smooth, vintage and authentic soul and rhythm and
blues motifs. The CD also features dynamic jazz melodies as well as
infectious musical themes that have been inspired by Duffmusiq’s
everyday experiences.  For this project, Duffmusiq has assembled a cast
that includes some of the most sought after international musicians.
On Soulleash,
Duffmusiq wears several hats – not only acting as producer, but also
mixing the recording and performing on guitar, keyboards, saxophone and
bass.  Alex Sekulovski (a fine musician who was voted
“Best Drummer” by both the Pop Rock Festival and BT Fest in Macedonia),
keeps that beat throughout.  Also collaborating on Soulleash are highly-regarded guest musicians including Miki Petkovski (Martin Levan, Alannah Miles) on piano, Roger Williams (Jully Black, Shakura S’Aida) on acoustic bass, Serbian icon Vasil Hadzimanov on piano, Sam Heineman & Anthony Brancati on keyboards and Hammond B3, thrilling Cuban musician/composer, Alexis Baro (The Buena Vista Social Club, Hilario Duran, Nikki Yanovsky, David Foster, Paquito D'Riviera) on trumpet and Gyles Natalie (Glen Lewis, Jully Black), Quisha Wint (Snow, Jacksoul, Maestro) and Wade O. Brown (Aretha Franklin, Quincy Jones and Clark Sisters) on vocals.  Additional guest musicians on Soulleash include Connor Walsh on acoustic bass, Ran Caspi, Rob Brown, Milosh Angelov and Yash Presswalla on electric bass, Gilad Jacobson, Dimitar Bodurov and Anthony Brancati on keyboards, Geoff Bornes on alto sax and Christine Hamiton, Jin Brown and Jeff Eager on vocals.
In
a bold move, Duff re-located to Toronto, Canada, in order to attend the
prestigious Harris Institute.  In 2002, he graduated with Honours in
both Music Production and Studio Engineering.  Shortly thereafter, he
formed the band “Jamesking” featuring vocalist Gyles
Duff was so impressed with this talented singer/musician, that he began
focusing on her as a solo artist, as well as producing and co-writing
new material with her. Together, they won 2nd place at both the 2008 and 2010 “Radio Star National Songwriter's Competition”, and with the release of Gyles’ 2013 EP Love and Denial, Duffmusiq also received the award as “Best Urban EP Production” at The American Indie Music Awards.
In
2012, Duffmusiq signed with the Los Angeles based “Rip Tide Music” for
co-publishing and licensing.  This association led to Duff’s music being
placed on TV’s “Psych” (USA Network) and “Girlfriend’s Guide To Divorce” (Bravo) and in the films “Shark City” (Warner Brothers) and “Alles Is Liebe” (Universal Studios Germany).  Duffmusiq
is both honoured and excited to have just positioned an original
composition (which he also produced and composed) in an upcoming Lion’s
Gate production about the life and career of the talented multiple
award-winning pop and R & B vocalist, Toni Braxton.

With the Spring 2017 release of Soulleash,
Duffmusiq plans to perform and tour in support of the new recording, as
well as to continue to compose for television and film, and also
continue to develop, write for (and with) and produce many more talented
international artists.
