Darrell began performing in church the age of 9.

Influenced by music icons such as Pop & Mavis Staples, Al Green, Elvis Presley, Aretha Franklin, Bonnie Raite, the Righteous Brothers, Ray Charles, Sylvester Stone, Sam Cook, Otis Redding, Stevie Wonder and gospel greats, Fred Hammond, Kurt Franklin and CC Winans he has a deep inspiring testimony about his life experiences in covers and his original treasured songs.

His keyboard, rhythm, and perfect pitch, combined with his love of R&B, JAZZ, and POP music are a natural progression to his first EP (2013) featuring original songs ‘In my Heart’ and ‘Body Sweat’.  

Just released for commercial consumption, November 8, 2014, is Darrell’s 10 song CD entitled  ”SCUZE ME” produced and mastered by Ron Moton of the famous ConFunShun band. The event was held at the Vallejo Yacht Club where 200 invited special guests attended.

Darrell has shared the stage with famous musicians greats of the Fenix Band such as: Musician veteran guitarist, Fernando Aragon, the impressive and authentic drummer, Larry Vann; accomplished and amazing bassiest, Michael Warren; the master of keys, Phillip “Roscoe” Gallo; and the man with all heart and soul, Kyle Hixon on sax, Tony Lindsay (lead singer, Santana), Skyler Jett (Commodores), former and current Tower of Power members Rick Stevens (lead singer on “You’re Still a Young Man”), Mic Gillette, & Tom Politzer, Carlos Reyes, Pete Escovedo, Rene Escovedo, Ray Obiedo, Roger Glenn and Alvon Johnson. 

Darrell has assembled the D W Edwards Heavy Weather Band, bringing together top Bay Area musicians to help him build the groove and rock the house.  Audiences consistently pack the dance floor during performances at venues such as the Vallejo Yacht Club, Mira Theater,  Empress Theatre, Vallejo, Vallejo Juneteenth Festivals and Vallejo Convention & Visitors Bureau events, the Baltic, Point Richmond;  Lou’s 42, San Francisco;  7 Mile House, Brisbane; Silo’s, Napa; Magnolia Terrace &  Fenix, San Rafael; Pink Festival, Fairfield; Green Valley Country Club; Sticky Rice, Fairfield;  Solano County Fair, the Front Room at the Wharf on the Vallejo Waterfront, and the annual Wounded Warriors fundraisers, Wooden Valley Winery Fairfield,
