Summary

The 2006 DIY Music Festival is part of the 2006 DIY Convention: Do It Yourself In Film, Music & Books.

Now in its sixth year in Los Angeles, the convention teaches how to create, promote, protect and distribute independent film, music and books as told by people involved in same.

Past speakers at the events include many well-known names of independent film, music and books (Google us for complete lists).

We have produced shows across the country in conjunction with CMJ, 2NMC, MusicFest NW and other major events. Our annual Los Angeles show is our flagship and culminates our year-long festivals.

For music submissions, we are open to all styles and genres as long as they are created without assistance or funding from a multinational corporation.

Last year, we featured a slate of more than 35 performers at various venues and parties across the city, including major independent acts including Steve Earle and Mountain Goats. The festival culminated in a two-day trade show at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. Highlighting the festival was our annual DIY Music Festival winners showcase, headlined by the solo debut of Guided By Voices Doug Gillard.

Submission to the DIY Music Festival includes one admission to the trade show and free admission to the various clubs and parties during the show, to be held February 6-12, 2006.
