Summary

The 7th Annual Florence Winter Folk Festival is now accepting applications for performers. The festival will be held on January 17-18, 2009. The festival includes acoustic music, arts & crafts, food, demonstrations, jam sessions and workshops. All performances are located in a world-class 450 seat auditorium.

The proceeds of the festival go towards enhancing the music program in the local schools, providing free concerts to students and to support the local community event center. Last year over 1,600 people attended the festival and free concerts by Tom Chapin & Friends were provided to over 900 school children.

Previous performers have included Mary Flower, Horizon, The Limeliters, The Highwaymen, The New Christy Minstrels, The Brothers Four, Hank Cramer, Tom May, The Wanderers and others. Headliners this year are Tom Paxton and Barry McGuire's Trippin' The 60's show.

As this is an acoustic only venue, groups with loud percussion or electric instruments will likely not be selected. The festival will have a total of 8 performers in addition to the headliners. Each performer is expected to perform a one-hour set. Selected artists may sell CD's and will be paid a honorarium of $500. Lodging can also be provided if necessary for selected artists. Last year, half of the artists who performed at the event were booked through Sonicbids.

The festival provides a professional sound engineer and sound system. Please note that artists are also responsible for their own transportation.
