History of the Compilation

For the past 9 years the A3C Hip-Hop Festival has descended upon Atlanta, Georgia, bringing together thousands of fans, producers, rappers, deejays, break dancers, and artists for the to preserve, discuss, and celebrate hip-hop. Since 2005, A3C has featured over 500 of the most influential artists in hip-hop from every corner of the United States including Raekwon, GZA, Big Boi, J. Cole, Tech N9ne, Ab-Soul, 9th Wonder, B.o.B., Curren$y, DJ Premier, Jean Grae, Killer Mike, Mac Miller, Little Brother, Murs, Rakim, and Yelawolf, just to name a few.

In 2011, A3C added a new component to the festival by partnering with iHipHop Distribution for the first ever A3C compilation album, A3C Volume 1. A3C Volume 1, catapulted the festival’s artists to a new level as fans across the world were able to share in the experience of concert-goers and discover flourishing new artists such as Freddie Gibbs, Action Bronson, XV, Rockie Fresh, Chase N. Cashe, Jarren Benton, Main Attrakionz, Soul Khan, and more. The album also featured established, and even timeless, acts such as Dead Prez, M.O.P., Bun B, RZA, 9th Wonder, Murs, and Ski Beatz. iTunes raved, “loaded with 45 tracks, ‘Volume 1’ showcases much-loved and well-established acts from around the country…there’s really something here for everybody.”

The following year, A3C Volume 2 was released with the intention of spotlighting emerging artists from across the country. Volume 2 featured acts such as OCD: Moosh & Twist, A$AP Rocky, Trinidad James, A$AP Twelvy, Ab-Soul, Danny Brown, Neako, Mod Sun, Bodega Bamz, Chill Moody, Co$$, Asaad, and more. Unlike its predecessor, A3C Volume 2 featured some artists that did not appear on the festival in order to fully represent the next wave of premier talent in hip-hop.
