Summary

For over 30 years the Adams Avenue Business Association has hosted the Adams Avenue Roots & Folk Festival in the Normal Heights community of San Diego, California. The festival focuses on the promotion, preservation and performance of local and nationally touring musical acts.

The genres highlighted include the rich traditions of music styles such as Folk, Old Time String Bands, Cowboy, Cajun, Rockabilly, Roots-blues, Bluegrass, Celtic, Roots Rock, Honky-tonk, Texicana, Tejano and Conjunto.

The Adams Avenue Roots & Folk Festival provides a rare opportunity for its many new and accomplished musicians to come together in one place and showcase their talent. This helps to guarantee the future of many disappearing music traditions, by exposing others (especially the younger generations) to something they would not otherwise have the opportunity to experience.

As the public becomes more aware of the diversity and quality of the musical acts presented at the Roots & Folk Festival, interest increases. Last year, this event was held on Saturday April 22 & Sunday April 23 with over 40,000 visitors in attendance to the free two-day festival. This is truly an event that provides both enjoyment and cultural enrichment for the whole family.

At next year's fetival on Saturday April 21, 2007 & Sunday April 22, 2007, we will have 35 artists performing on 5 stages.

PLEASE NOTE: Although we are open to accepting submissions from national acts, we are predominently looking for local and regional talent.

The Adams Avenue Business Association hosts the Roots & Folk Festival as a fundraising event to help support it’s mission; “To promote and increase commercial activity within the Adams Avenue Business Improvement District” and support the programs offered to the business community within our San Diego California neighborhood.
