Summary

Celebrating its 36th year, the Adams Avenue Roots & Folk Festival focuses on the promotion, preservation and performance of local and nationally touring musical acts.

The Adams Avenue Roots & Folk Festival provides a rare opportunity for its many new and accomplished musicians to come together in one place and showcase their talent. This helps to guarantee the future of many disappearing music traditions, by exposing others (especially the younger generations) to something they would not otherwise have the opportunity to experience.

The 36th Annual Adams Avenue Roots & Folk Festival will be held on April 25 & 26, 2009 and will have 35 artists performing on 6 stages.

The genres highlighted include the rich traditions of music styles such as Folk, Old Time String Bands, Cowboy, Cajun, Rockabilly, Roots-blues, Bluegrass, Celtic, Roots Rock, Honky-tonk, Texicana, Tejano and Conjunto.

Last year, this event had over 40,000 visitors in attendance to the FREE two-day festival. This is truly an event that provides both enjoyment and cultural enrichment for the whole family. There is pay for selected artists, which is commensurate with an artist's draw in the area.

PLEASE NOTE: Although the Adams Avenue Business Association is open to accepting submissions from national acts, it is predominantly looking for local and regional talent.

The Adams Avenue Business Association hosts the Roots & Folk Festival as a fundraising event to help support its mission; “To promote and increase commercial activity within the Adams Avenue Business Improvement District” and support the programs offered to the business community within its San Diego, California neighborhood.
