Summary

Relay For Life is the signature fundraising event for The American Cancer Society. It is the single-largest fundraiser put on to battle the fight against cancer, fund research, provide cancer clinics with the tools to treat patients and run all the operations of ACS offices designed to help cancer patients overcome this devastating illness through its many help initiatives and resources for patients and families.

2 spots have been reserved for Sonicbids performers (though they've taken more in the past if the artists are right for the event). Local and regional acts are preferred although touring artists that are passing through College Station will be considered as well.

There is no monetary compensation, but food and lodging is provided as well as media exposure in local papers and on-campus and major exposure to 2,000+ college students at the event--a great way to get introduced into this demographic and this town and build a solid fan base (Defacto Productions books many concerts and festivals in town throughout the year and usually refer back to artists booked at previous events to book again in the future).

Performers usually provide their talent and time for free for the cause. They provide a top of the line professional sound, lighting, video and production equipment and team which kindly donates their time and efforts as alumni to help it keep its reputation of one of the best Relay For Life productions.

Previous performers have included: ex-American Idol Tim Halperin, Island Def Jam recording band Electric Touch, Sleeperstar, David Ramirez, The Canvas Waiting, The 71's, Gatlin Elms, Christen Sawyer, JB Barnett, Strawberry Jam, Charlie Gore, Preston Leatherman, The Tastydactyls, The Wes Hanna Band and many more.

Most genres accepted, including Magicians, Comedians & MC's--language and content must be family-friendly.

Taking place at Texas A&M University in College Station, TX, Aggie Relay For Life is now on its 7th year. In the event's first year, it was named Rookie Event of The Year for raising the most funds, bringing in the most amount of teams and participants and setting the bar high in games, entertainment and involvement of the community in the event. In the past 5 years they've earned greater recognition such as Top Online Fundraising Event and Top Collegiate Relay For Life Event in the East Texas Region as well as a 5 Star Relay For Life Event continuing to better the event and the five areas of performance and the Best of the Best National Collegiate Award.

Aggie Relay For Life is also different in that it is run by Texas A&M students for Texas A&M students, community, families, faculty and staff. The event pulls in well over 2,000 students and up to 4,000 participants with heavy promotion throughout campus all year long. The 12-hour overnight event features musical performances non-stop all night to keep participants awake, hyped up and entertained for the entire event. Event starts at 7pm on Friday April 20th and goes until 7am Saturday April 21st so playing a late spot is not bad as the crowd arrives early and stays late. The event is held on campus at the Penberthy Athletic Fields at Texas A&M University.
