Summary

The Australian Independent Music Video Awards are undertaken to provide recognition for and to incentive filmmakers and musicians creating original works. Now into their second decade, the AIMVAs are one of the few truly independent music video awards that is growing in world recognition.

The awards were initiated by the Australian Independent Music Association (AIMA) in recognition of the diversity and range of talent active in the production of independent music videos. The vast majority of the music videos, similar to the original recorded music tracks, are not well covered by mainstream music industry awards, that are dominated by major transnational recording labels and media interests.

The first awards were presented in Melbourne during 2006 and have grown in stature ever since. From the outset there was strong interest from international music video directors and independent artists. With a 2011 review of both structure and timing the AIMA decided to increase the range of awards to both Australian and International interests to the extent that by 2012 the awards became recognised as the most comprehensive music video awards worldwide. Previous AIMVA winners can be viewed on the official AIMVA website by clicking on the various award galleries. Many artists submitting through Sonicbids have been winners, with the majority of international awards sourced via Sonicbids!

The presentation in 2013 will be made on Saturday evening of 28 September 2013 at a quality theater with ticketed reserved seating. At least one Sonicbids winner will have travel covered as a special guest of the AIMVAs. Other entrants are also welcome to register and attend.

All Sonicbids entrants please provide details on the relevant YouTube link, Title, Performer, Music Video Director, Music Video Production House (if different name from the director). Remember the music video can not be paid for by a major label or their affiliates in any nation. If your music video is paid through other forms of sponsorship, fundraising or your family & friends pockets that is ok!

Good luck to all!
