Summary

The Alianait Arts Festival is an 11-day multi-cultural event that takes place in Iqaluit, Nunavut between June 21 to July 1. The Festival is entering its seventh year and has quickly evolved into a world-class event and a destination that artists and tourists around the world dream of./n/nThe Alianait Arts Festival is an 11-day multi-cultural event that takes place in Iqaluit, Nunavut between June 21 to July 1. The Festival is entering its seventh year and has quickly evolved into a world-class event and a destination that artists and tourists around the world dream of. All Alianait performers are offered round-trip travel to Iqaluit, accommodation, per diems and performance fees. Performers are asked to indicate whether they would be willing to apply for a Canada Council Travel Grant to help subsidize the cost of northern travel.



Described as the hottest, coolest festival on top of the world, Alianait features music (all genres), circus, dance, theatre, film, storytelling and visual artists. There are more than 50 sponsors, the major ones being Canadian North, CBC North and Ayaya Marketing Communications. Each year there are between 12 to 15 artists / bands from around North America and overseas and about 20 artists / bands from Nunavut (including Iqaluit).


Past musical performers include Little Miss Higgins, Mighty Popo, Nathan Rogers, Digging Roots, Bop Ensemble, Marco Calliari, Kobotown, Bon Débarras, Funky Mamas, Kleztory, Pamyua, Pacific Curls, Bomba, Treasa Levasseur, Namgar & Diego Marulande. For more info, go to our website at www.alianait.ca
