Summary

Ames on the Half Shell is Ames’ premiere event of the summer. Taking place at Bandshell Park every Friday in June and July at 5pm, the Ames Jaycees host a party downtown where everyone goes to relax, get together with friends, or meet new people. They are seeking original and cover bands performing country, reggae, and rock music. All selected artists will be compensated./n/nSince 2003, Ames on the Half Shell has been Ames’ premiere event of the summer. Taking place at Bandshell Park every Friday in June and July at 5pm, the Ames Jaycees host a party downtown where everyone goes to relax, get together with friends, or meet new people. They are seeking bands to play mostly cover songs in country, reggae, and rock genres. All selected artists will be compensated and provided with 3 drink tokens per band member.


Each performance lasts 3 hours including one or two breaks. Bands provide their own PA, though a PA may be provided for a fee. Proceeds are designated for the Ames Jaycees’ Annual July 4th Fireworks show and the other community projects. Children 10 and under are free. Sponsors include 1430 KASI radio, Channel Q 150.1 radio, and Chitty Garbage Services Inc.
