Anti Pop Music Fest 2008

Now in its third year, ANTI*POP Music Festival is a four night event, held November 13 - 16, 2008 in Orlando, FL. ANTI*POP showcases the best emerging talent the nation has to offer. Last year's festival had over 10,000 attendees.

Over 100 bands will take over downtown and midtown Orlando on 2 outdoor stages and 10 venues for the event, which will include a diverse lineup of national and regional acts. This year's headliners include Conor Oberst & the Mystic Valley Band, Matt Costa, The Watson Twins, Mike Doughty (Soul Coughing), The Aquabats, Black Lips, Murs, Pelican, etc.

There are many slots available with at least twelve slots for Sonicbids artists. All talent is booked by the area's leading promoters and all venues involved will have top-notch sound, production and presentation - a striking difference from many conferences!

The festival will present edgy acts that are breaking into the mainstream through new methods of marketing, forward thinking, and strong DIY principals. Showcasing bands will have the opportunity to perform alongside some of the leading bands in indie and underground music plus rub elbows with leading industry professionals and tastemakers.

ANTI*POP alumni include Mute Math, The National, She Wants Revenge, Spoon, Aesop Rock, The Bravery, Bob Mould, Atmosphere, Ambulance LTD, Lou Barlow, Hank Williams III, We Are Scientists, The Stills, David Bazan (Pedro the Lion), Jim Fairweather (Grandaddy), MC Chris, Trail of Dead, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, John Vanderslice, Blood Brothers, Kasabian, Saul Williams, Pretty Girls Make Graves, Whole Wheat Bread, P.O.S., etc.

The festival strives to be the perfect mix of underground excitement and mainstream appeal. All genres of music will be accepted and considered, as long as its good. The emerging sounds showcased will include rock, indie, punk, acoustic, underground hip-hop, electro, hardcore and more.

ANTI*POP is also an alternative to the outdated traditional music conference model. The panels will be more educational than your typical "how to get signed" and "demo reviews" panels that most conferences hype. Past panelists have included Robert Reynolds (manager/attorney, The Killers), Joe Escalante (Indie 103, Kung Fu Records, The Vandals), Robert English (Cornerstone/FADER), Christian Bernhardt (Kork Agency), Mark Mercado (manager, Paramore), Alex Saavedra (Eyeball Records), Jason Cook (Rhymesayers Entertainment) and Randall Jenkins (The Militia Group).
