Artists selected to participate in the Emerging Artist Program will be competing for a $750 cash prize and a guarantee of a paid, featured artist performance on the Main Stage at the 2010 festival./n/nThe Arkansas Blues & Heritage Festival is ranked as one of the Top 10 Music Events by festivals.com; was recognized by Travelocity as one of the 200 destination spots for 2005; and is one of the largest blues music events in the country, with an average annual attendance of 85,000 over 3 days. There are 40 Emerging Artist showcase slots available. The Arkansas Blues & Heritage Festival is where the legends play and emerging artists pay their dues.



Artists submitting to the Emerging Artist Program/Battle of the Bands may also be considered for a spotlight performance on the Main Stage.




  • Artists selected to participate in the Emerging Artist Program will be competing for a $750.00 cash prize and a guarantee of a paid, featured artist performance on the Main Stage at the 2010 festival.



  • Artists selected to participate in the Battle of the Bands Program will be competing for a cash prize, the opportunity to represent the SBBS at the 2010 IBC in Memphis, and a guaranteed featured spot on the Main Stage during the 2009 Annual Festival. As a battle participant, artist will also have the chance to be selected for the Emerging Artist Stage at no extra cost! Battle dates for 2009 are scheduled for August 28 & 29, 2009. The deadline to be considered for the Battle is August 22, 2009.



Recognized as one of the premier live music events, the 24th annual festival will be held in Helena, Arkansas along the historic main street with stages spread along the streets and levee along the Mississippi River from October 8–10, 2009.



Past event performers include Solomon Burke, Levon Helm (of the Band), Elvin Bishop, Charlie Musselwhite, and Koko Taylor. Some event sponsors include The Delta Cultural Center, Entergy, Helena Regional Medical Center and the Isle of Capri Casino and Entertainment Resort.



Genres accepted include: blues, jazz, acoustic and other blues influenced music.
