Artscape 2008

Artscape is the largest free public arts festival in America. The festival features three days of musical concerts by local, regional and national talent on four outdoor stages. The festival showcases all types of indoor and outdoor visual arts exhibitions as well as film, theater, an Artists' Market with over 120 tents offering crafts and works of art for sale, opera, dance, fashion, street theater and special activities geared towards children. Artscape is produced by the Baltimore Office of Promotion & the Arts, Inc. on behalf of the Baltimore Festival of the Arts, Inc. The festival is now celebrating its 27th anniversary.



Artscape is now accepting submissions from Sonicbids artists for General Performance consideration as well Sound Off!, their local bands contest. They are hoping to select a Sonicbids artist to perform at the festival. Compensation is offered, but amounts are negotiated at the time of booking. The Sound Off! contest is open to artists from Maryland, Washington DC, and Delaware as well as select cities/counties in Virginia and Pennsylvania (Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun and Prince William counties and the city of Alexandria in Virginia. Adams, Chester, Franklin, Lancaster and York counties in Pennsylvania). Five Sonicbids artists will be selected to have their music posted on an online voting platform, where Artscape music lovers and fans will be able to vote for their favorite band from May 1st to May 31st. The band that receives the most votes will perform at Artscape 2008. The contest winner also receives $500 in compensation and a backstage party for 20 fans
