The Opportunity

The Recording Conservatory of Austin's (TRCoA) Unsigned Artist Showcase will choose 25 bands to advance to the fan voting round. The four bands with the most votes will perform in the video recorded showcase at Stinson Studios, where judges and fan views will determine the grand prize winner. The top 4 artists will be awarded prizes, but the grand prize winner will be awarded $3,000 cash, 100 studio hours at Stinson Studios and much more.

Timeline:
May 1-31: Public voting for the top 25 artists
Jun 1: Top 4 artists announced 
Jun 18: Professionally filmed showcase at Stinson Studios featuring the top 4 artists 
Jun 24-Jul 15: Fan viewing of performance videos weighted toward final score 
Jul 16: Judge and Performance Video Views determine winners

The Band

  • Open to bands who are not signed to a major label with national distribution support
  • All artists entering to compete must have a full band. Solo performers will not be accepted unless they perform with a backing band. 
  • Any genre of music is welcome

The Gig

Details:

  • The top 4 bands will perform a 2 song, professionally recorded set at Stinson Studios, with a music video of each song prepared by Yellow DogVideo
  • Judges will use the criteria of fan favorite, song writing, performance, and originality to determine the winner of UAS 2015
Additional Compensation Details:
  • The top 4 artists will have a chance to be selected for a private audition for NBC'S The Voice; music consultation at AMF Creative Media Center; opportunity to perform at the 2015 UAS Showcase
  • 1st Place: $3,000 cash prize; 100 studio hours at Stinson Studios, including a full day working on a mix of one song with legendary producer Tim Palmer
  • 2nd Place: 1 Free Song (up to 15hrs) at Stinson Studios
  • 3rd Place: 1 Free Song (up to 10hrs) at Stinson Studios
  • 4th Place: 5 Hours at Stinson Recording Studios

Compensation

  • Compensation Amount: Up to $3,000.00
