Summary
This is a competition for rising performers and groups who are not widely known and would like to perform at the Avalon Music and Arts Festival in Paw Paw, WV - to be held August 13-25, 2005.
All submissions will be evaluated by a panel of judges at Avalon. The top six entries will be awarded 2 free admissions to the Fest, free camping for the weekend, a prize package and a ten-minute period on stage to show their stuff.
Prizes for all 6 finalists include a package valued at approximately $500.00 consisting of: 5 hours studio time at Big Bear Productions, Falls Church, VA ($250 value), $150 certificate towards CD duplication by Oasis CD Duplication ($150), Cables and equipment from Horizon Music (approximate value $50.00), a selection of guitar strings from SIT Strings (approx Value $25.00) and more TBA.
The performer or group whose 10 minute set receives the best review by the panel of judges will perform a 45 minute set on the main stage the following day, and receive three hundred dollars in addition to the prizes awarded each finalist. Chief judge this year will be Dalis Allen, Director of the Kerrville Folk Festival.
All genres accepted.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Avalon is a clothing-optional resort.
