AVO SESSION Basel

In its 24th year, AVO SESSION Basel presents an annual series of concerts over 13 evenings with 2 concerts per evening. These exquisite concerts offer an intimate atmosphere with small, round, candlelit tables and a capacity of 1,530 (seated audience). Last year, a total of 19,530 tickets were sold for a total of 13 concert evenings, meaning that every night sold out.

AVO SESSION Basel is looking for one act to open for a headliner at the 2009 festival. Worldwide applications are welcome in the following different genres: Pop, Rock, Urban, Funk, Singer-Songwriter, World, Jazz.

In the past, AVO SESSION Basel presented Mark Knopfler, Katie Melua, Joe Cocker, P!nk, Deep Purple, Status Quo, Elton John, Lionel Richie etc.

For selected artists, AVO SESSION Basel offers a fee of 2,000 - 3,000 USD (roughly 1,500 - 2,300 Euro) plus one night's accommodation in the festival's official hotel (with breakfast buffet). Additionally, the festival will offer catering, as per artist's rider requirements, as well as one hot dinner at the venue restaurant for each musician & official crew member. Local ground transportation between airport, train stations, hotel and venue will be provided as well.

AVO' SESSION Basel's festival programme is published in conjuntion with a huge media campaign (1.2 million US$ communication budget). As such, AVO SESSION Basel provides each artist with a huge promotional push. This 45-minute set will be recorded by Schweizer Fernsehen SF, who will broadcast the performance on Swiss television. In total, the performance can be broadcast in up to 40 countries worldwide.

The official tailor-made festival stage design including the festival-backdrop is imperatively used for all performances. Merch sales are not possible. A professional local record shop sells CDs/DVDs of all artists at the festival venue.
