Summary

The 10th annual Basalt River Days Festival is a Colorado mountain festival that incorporates high quality music with local community events, as well as arts and crafts. The festival was created to celebrate the Gold Medal Rivers that forms the beautiful valley and the communities they flow through. Basalt is located between Aspen and Glenwood springs, Colorado.



Basalt River Days begins on a Friday afternoon, August 17th and continues all day Saturday, August 18th. It is located in Lion's Park, which is centered in the heart of Basalt's historic downtown.



River Days has a professional sound company, and a covered 20'x20' stage. They have every type of entertainment represented. There are 2 main stages. One is for children’s entertainment and the other for main performances. In the mornings, they have the local children, a harmonica contest, then onto bluegrass, country, reggae, singer-songwriters, blues and jam bands.



Compensation for musicians varies with the time slot played, experience, popularity and name recognition. Travel is not included, but lodging in Aspen in some cases is included.



Previous entertainers have been Coco Montoya, The Subdudes, Nathan Hamilton, Buckwheat Zydeco, The Amazing Rhythm Aces, Hazel Miller, Nina Storey, Lee Ann Atherton and Caberet Diosa.



Some of their sponsors are the Basalt Chamber of Commerce, the town of Basalt, Alpine Banks, the Valley View Hospital Foundation, and many local businesses and individuals.
