Summary

A Nest of Eggs, LLC is proud to be producing "Before the Goldrush", a compilation to benefit Teach for America. Focused on cover songs from the '67-77 era, this project gives a chance for today's singer/songwriters to pay homage to those before them.

Some of today's best are already on board. Maria Taylor will be covering Aaron Neville's "Tell It Like It Is", Neko Case is doing the Jesse Winchester/Everly Brothers nugget "Bowling Green", Tracy Bonham is doing a Bill Withers cover, Pieta Brown covers Neil Young's "Birds", Carey Ott does The Band's "Twilight", and William Fitzsimmons a James Taylor song.

This project is exclusively cover songs. Original material will not be considered. The intended stylizing of these songs is reflective of, say, a Damien Rice song - simple, elegant, personal. While some of the originals are up-tempo, it's felt that a downtempo version of the song could work.

Artists will not be paid for their tracks since all the profits will go to Teach for America. However, this is a great chance to be part of a compilation featuring renowned, nationally-recognized recording artists that will be distributed through all major digital retailers (iTunes, Rhapsody, eMusic, Napster, etc).

Sound interesting? Have a song from that era that has become an inspiration for you? Donovan? Paul Simon? Jackson Browne? Check out some samples on suggested style and get some song ideas style here.

Please note: Each artist will retain rights to their recordings (not the publishing -- the original writer retains that). They are only lending the use of the song for this project. The Artist will be given the right to offer their song for further synch and repurposing rights that would be acquired by A Nest of Eggs and any aggregators that may used. If the Artist chooses to be involved in that effort, both ANOE, any aggregator involved and the artist will share in those receipts equally.
