Athens Area Council for the Arts (AACA) is a 501(3)c non-profit organization based in Athens, TN that provides a variety of performing and visual arts opportunities for their community. They own and operate The Arts Center, a multi-purpose arts space that includes the Sue E. Trotter Black Box Theater. This theater seats about 180 people when configured for concerts. It is fully equipped with sound and lights.

AACA is currently looking for artists to play at their Black Box Concert Series, a series they have presented for the past 2 years. The series, which usually draws around 150 people, will run from October 2008 through March 2009. Accepted genres include acoustic, americana, folk, and bluegrass but AACA is open to other possibilities. Artists will be compensated for their performance.

Past performers include Chris Smither, Infamous Stringdusters, Rory Block, and the Wiyos.

AACA has great support from local corporate sponsors for all of their events such as BB&T, Citizens National Bank, Denso, Tennessee Wesleyan College, and are fortunate to receive funding from the Tennessee Arts Commission.
