Headed into its ninth year The Boston Comedy Festival Competition is now accepting submissions. Sign up to be a contestant in the BCF stand up comedy contest and get the chance to win $10,000 and a chance to perform for national talent scouts!

The Boston Comedy Festival stand-up contest takes place from August 30th – September 5th, 2009 at multiple venues in Boston’s theater district. The finals will be held at the Cutler Majestic Theatre.

Starting on August 30th, 96 comedians start out in the preliminaries round, which lead into two semifinals, and lastly 8 contestants compete in the finals.

The judges are selected from all different branches of the comedy community, including vice presidents of primetime casting from major networks, agents, managers, and cruise ship, military and club bookers. All of these different judges bring a unique variety to the contest. The contest is judged on three factors; creativity, originality, and the audience response.

The Boston Comedy Festival Competition is made possible because of partnerships with sponsors such as Sierra Mist, Comcast and Southwest Airlines. The Festival is presented in association with WZLX, The Weekly Dig, and Vin DiBona.

Please note: In order to be considered, you must have a Supersonic EPK with video of a performance, up to 6 minutes long. Your EPK must also include a bio and head shot. This is open to artists in the Comedy genre only.
