Summary
This year marks the third annual Boston Music Festival in Boston, MA. Taking place October 13-18, 2009, the festival will feature a combination of educational panels and musical performances.
Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 36 bands will participate in a battle of the bands competition featuring 6 different music venues throughout Boston. Prior to performance, each band will receive radio airplay on local college radio stations, including 91.5 and others. Bands will be divided into 6 categories, and each category will be venue exclusive. They are looking for Rock/Pop, Hip-hop/R&B, Metal, Punk, Singer-Songwriter and Alternative artists.
Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, 36 bands will participate in a battle of the bands competition featuring 6 bands at each of the following venues:
- Middle East Upstairs - confirmed
- Harpers Ferry - confirmed
- TT the Bears Place (tentative)
- Hennesseys (tentative)
- Paddy Os (tentative)
- Great Scott (tentative)
Voting will be completed online at BostonMusicFestival.org and onsite at each of the venues. Three music industry professionals will be present at each venue judging performance/overall image of the band, actual music (lyrically/melody), and overall sound of the band. One finalist shall be selected in each category to participate in a final showcase performance at the Middle East Upstairs featuring headlining band Freezepop.
