Summary

BrooklynBest 2005 and CMJ present the Five-Borough Battle of the Bands on June 5th at Grand Army Plaza. Ten music groups of any genre will be chosen by CMJ to perform live. Five judges, including Adam Shore (Vice Records) and Danny Simmons (Def Poetry) will choose one Grand Prize Winner plus a First and Second Runner Up. The Grand Prize Winner will receive a premier performance at the 2005 CMJ Music Marathon in New York City and at the 2005 Brooklyn New Music festival, a selected track on a CMJ compilation, and a ton of great Brooklyn gifts. First and Second Runners-Up will also receive great live performance opportunities.



Participants will be chosen based on the merit of their music alone; no record affiliation is necessary. Submissions will be judged on the following criteria: Originality, Musical and Technical Ability, Performance Quality, Songwriting Ability, Lyrical Creativity, Sense Of Innovation. At least one member of each band must reside in one of the five boroughs of New York City.



Eligibility: Band must have at least one member currently residing in one of the five boroughs on New York City. Entire band must be available from 11am - 6pm on Sunday June 5, 2005.

BrooklynBest is an annual event to attract both Brooklynites and local, national and international tourists to Brooklyn for special events and to enjoy the everyday fun and wonders the borough has to offer. The festival is held on the first weekend of June every year. This year's "hub" will be Grand Army Plaza, and the "hub" will move to a new Brooklyn location each year.
