Summary

Built is a Chicago Arts Festival that each year, creates innovative ways for artists to collaborate with each other and their surrounding city in order to showcase work. In 2011, Chicago artists will be taking over a vacant lot in wicker park and will be building a city out of modified shipping containers. The containers will feature these local, visual artists who will be transforming them into a variety of venues from fashion to typical art galleries. The festival coordinators are looking to book at least 8 Sonicbids artists to join this artistic movement and perform live at the festival./n/nBuilt is a Chicago Arts Festival that each year, creates innovative ways for artists to collaborate with each other and their surrounding city in order to showcase work. The festival coordinators are looking to book at least 8 Sonicbids artists to join this artistic movement and perform live at the festival. Local to touring artists of a wide variety of genres are encouraged to submit to the opportunity. While no sound equipment will be provided, there will be a sound engineer to help set up performing artists' sets.

About the festival:

Built is an arts festival for Chicago Artists and Designers who best exemplify the forces of creative change in this city. The festival is designed to give under represented (but awesome and hard working) artists an opportunity to get their work out to a large audience. Each artists is given a shipping container to alter into a gallery space where they can present their work. Participation in the event is free for the artists, and the materials are being donated by the festival's sponsors and partners.
