Summary

Carlson Entertainment is accepting song submissions for licensing consideration in a is a $4 million budget action /adventure film from an Academy Award winning Director/Producer. They are specifically seeking timeless music that fits a wide definition of Americana or hip-folk (i.e.- small town America that reflects friendship, family, adventure, mischief, teen life/issues, not wanting to grow up, etc.) No love songs needed- think a modern day Tom Sawyer! Primarily acoustic oriented tracks desired. All songs should be lyrically clean and appropriate for young listeners.

The film is a modern story that plays homage to Mark Twain's classic "Tom Sawyer". This coming of age story, set in a timeless Americana town and dealing with typical early teenage issues, sets the characters on the edge of adulthood -- a place they may, or may not, want to venture into! Themes/Styles should be reflected in the lyric and also the music/sonic elements, blending classic and timeless sounds with a youthful demographic. Mostly original songs, but classic/old-time "covers" are okay.

Uptempo songs that are good for riding dirtbikes down a dirt road, racing on a river, competing with friends, running to my small town/hometown... (stay in the "americana" song styles - not too country, not too bluesy - a good americana blend).

Mellow and reflective songs on the Americana themes listed above.

Small town carnival/fair background songs.

Long instrumental sections helpful.

Examples of artists/songs that fit the general music need for the film include:

"(I'm A) Road Runner" - Albert Lee ; "The Road We're On" - Sonny Landreth ;

John Mellencamp, Steve Earle, Bruce Springsteen, John Fogerty

John Gorka, Patty Griffin, John Prine, Albert Lee

Keb Mo, Tab Benoit, Sonny Landreth

Nickel Creek, The Wreckers, Colbie Caillat

Carlson Entertainment will pitch their favorite submissions to the film's music supervisor directly for placement consideration. Selected artists will receive compensation through a 50/50 split of the sync fee and royalties. Selected artists/songwriters will need to sign a non-exclusive licensing agreement. Artists must be at least 18 years old and own the copyrights to their submitted materials.
