The tour attracts hundreds of music fans from Chicago and the surrounding states for two public events each year, one in January and one in May as part of the "Blues Month" events previewing the annual Chicago Blues Festival. The City of Chicago helps promote the event via various tourism channels.

The tour always includes a downtown "hub" venue, and this gig is in downtown Chicago, providing exposure to a broad demographic of music fans. They are looking for both an acoustic or folk blues act for the "advance party" during bus boarding, as well as an eclectic blues (or blues-based) band to play at the "hub" during the tour. (Bands can do both if they have an acoustic and amplified act).

There is established media support for the tour, including live in-studio performances and interviews from over a half-dozen regional blues radio hosts, and selected audio and video by the performers is streamed via the CBT website as well. Chicago print media generally highlight the Tour as a special event, and the city of Chicago distributes promo material featuring the performers throughout the city in advance of the event. Some performers may be reviewed or featured in BluesWire blues news online even if not selected for the gig, and we will provide feedback to all blues performers who submit material. Often outlying venues request suggestions for bookings, and so some additional gigs may be available as well.

Over the years, featured performers have included a wide variety of styles within the blues idiom from jump blues to blues-funk to finger-picking to swingin' blues, including Dave Specter & the Bluebirds, Devil In A Woodpile, The Delta Jets, Guy King, Chainsaw Dupont, John Jackson, Deak Harp, The Vanguard Aces, Super Percy & His Soul Clique, Killer Ray Allison, Mos Funnel, The Checkmates, Rockin' Johnny Band Featuring Taildragger, and many more.

Please note: Lodging is not included, although they can assist you in finding reasonable lodging and possibly secondary gigs in the area. Compensation will be negotiated at the time of the booking.
