The Source and Down Magazine Present: The Chicago Music, Film & Fashion Conference

From February 29 - March 2, 2008, the first annual Chicago Music, Film and Fashion Conference will take place at the Renaissance Hotel in downtown Chicago. This year’s event will lay the foundation for a stronger and more unified Chicago entertainment industry. 2008’s theme is “Independent’s Day”, as they are spotlighting the independent’s who are moving and shaking the industry by presenting the Unsigned Hype Showcase, sponsored by the Source and Down Magazine.



This first annual conference will give independent urban artists the opportunity to showcase their talent in front of a series of music industry executives. Execs will provide instant feedback, and the winner of the showcase will be featured in both the Source and Down Magazine. Overall, there are 20 slots available in the showcase.



Hip Hop, r&b, pop, and reggae are welcome to submit. There is normally a $1,500 showcase fee that selected artists must pay to participate. This fee will be waived for one selected winner from Sonicbids, who will receive a VIP pass for no charge.



Benefits include:


•Performance slot- Time and location TBD.

•Provided equipment: Microphones, CD player, basic sound system

•Promotion of artist on onsite materials including conference website, myspace page and schedule of events.

•VIP registrations for access to all panels, after parties and related events

•1 registration bag insert (promotional items about the artist in conference attendee gift bags), which will be distributed to 500 guests and 100 executives.

•Opportunity to distribute promotional materials during performance.

•Feedback report directly from the execs.

•Song featured on conference website.

•Performance footage to be featured on conference website, post-conference dates and in various media outlets.



One artist/group from Showcase will be chosen as the “Spotlight Talent” to be featured in an upcoming issue of the Source and Down Magazine. Selected artists from showcase will be featured on a mixtape, to be released after the conference.



Attendees include artists and managers, music network programming executives, A&R reps, record label owners and executives, booking agents, performance venue owners, corporate sponsors, concert touring companies, distributors, DJs, festival producers, filmmakers, new media representatives, press, producers, publishing companies, radio and television management, video directors, screenwriters, fashion designers, fashion label executives, retailers, songwriters, wholesalers and more!
