Summary

City Showcase, London’s leading festival for new music and fashion attracting international audiences, works with musicians, performers, artists by providing networking opportunities, workshops, information and showcasing opportunities. The 2007 City Showcase festival will be held 4-8 June centred in London using venues throughout London.



Last year City Showcase featured more than 400 performers and was enjoyed by more than 2 million people. The event has helped to discover a diverse range of acts since its launch in 2003, including Amy Winehouse, Seth Lakeman, Hot Chip, Rishi Rich, Sway, Razorlight, Rooster and Keane.



City Showcase submissions through Sonicbids are open to ALL artists, though there are four slots total reserved for Sonicbids artists - two from North America and two from Continental Europe:


  • Two slots for Sonicbids acts from North America. The two talented acts who are selected to play will receive US$1000 to help cover travel costs (paid upon proof of travel arrangements to City Showcase).
  • Two slots for Sonicbids acts from Continental Europe (excluding the UK). The two successful acts will receive US$500 each to help cover travel costs (paid upon proof of travel arrangements to London)

Artists who make the grade will perform at venues in the West End including: Kingly Court, Pepe Jeans, and O’Neill in Carnaby, Apple in Regent Street, Metro, Borderline and Virgin Megastore. City Showcase Fringe gigs will also take place across London in the Islington Academy, Barfly, Bedford, Clear Channel and Mean Fiddler venues.



All genres of music can apply. BBC Radio 1 DJ Ras Kwame will host an Urban showcase, BBC Radio 1 DJs Nihal & Bobby Friction will host an Asian stage, KISS Fm will host electronic DJ nights and Xfm DJ John Kennedy will host an Indie event. Classical, Chinese, Australian and Canadian showcases are also planned.



City Showcase is not for profit and supported by the Mayor of London.


City Showcase hosts during the festival week FREE industry seminars and networking sessions. These are a must for anyone who wants to build networks in the UK and understand how to break the UK.

Please note: Selected artists will be responsible for all associated costs, travel and visas (where required) and must have a valid passport. There will be about one month from the notification date to the start of the festival for selected artists to make travel arrangements.
