Summary
The Clonmel Song Contest is now in its sixth year and is proving to be one of the more popular Irish-based song contests. Each entry will be individually judged on its merits by a group of qualified judges and ten finalists will go through to the Grand Final to perform in front of a live audience in Clonmel. The winning song will be picked that night.
When entries come in they are cataloged and given a number so when they reach the judges they are not identifiable by name.
Prizes:
- 1st prize - 2500euro
- 2nd prize - 1000euro
- 3rd prize - 500euro
- The Winner's name will go on the Tipperary Crystal Perpetual Trophy. The winner and runners up will receive an engraved piece of Tipperary Crystal.
The Main sponsors of The Clonmel Song Contest are: IMRO (Irish Music Rights Organisation), The Tipperary Leader Group, Tipperary Crystal, South Tipperary Arts Centre, South Tipperary County Council and Clonmel Borough Council.
The Clonmel Song Contest is growing each year and last year saw the introduction of SongFest.ie. SongFest.ie is a songwritersÂ’ festival for all song writers but specifically aimed at young songwriters to help and encourage them on their long journey.
