Summary

Coast Recorders, one of San Francisco’s most renowned recording studios, and Yonas Media, a full- service production company dedicated to artist development, will be hosting their first battle of the bands competition in April of 2007. Chosen from the Bay Area’s top talent, five bands will be selected to compete for prizes valued at over $10,000 with the Grand prize including a five-day recording package at Coast Recorders, mastering by Paul Stubblebine Mastering, and manufacturing of 1,000 CDs provided by Copy Cats Media. The second- through fifth-place bands will receive prizes ranging from microphones to production/recording software. Sponsored by BMI, Pyramid, and Pacific Noise!



Submissions are welcome from musicians of all backgrounds and musical influences that have not been signed to a major label. At least one member of the band must live in the Bay Area or the surrounding areas.



Coast Recorders’ 2007 Battle of the Bands will draw performers with one goal: to record in a professional environment and represent the Bay Area’s unique music community. Built in 1969 by the “Father of Modern Sound,” Bill Putnam, Coast Recorders has the largest live room in San Francisco and has hosted the musical genius of Neil Young, John Coltrane, The Donnas and Tito Puente to name a few.



In the first round of the Battle, the panel of judges, which includes some of the most respected musical minds in the Bay Area, will choose fifteen bands to perform for them at Coast Recorders From those fifteen, five will be selected to perform at The Independent and compete for the Grand Prize on Tuesday, April 24th. Not only will the top fifteen bands have the opportunity to perform at Coast Recorders, but they will also receive extensive feedback from the judges.
