Music at the Common Grounds

Common Grounds is a Coffee House with a purpose. Its mission is to provide a third place in the community which serves as a conduit of positive change through service and the arts.

Common Grounds is currently booking artists for its Friday night music series. If selected there is no compensation, but the artists may collect tips from the audience. Common Grounds is seeking to book approximately 50 artists over the next 6 months to fill slots in the Friday night music series.

About Common Grounds:

In 2010 Common Grounds started with the vision of making a positive influence in the community and serving with love the Germantown and Mt. Airy neighborhoods. Common Grounds functions as a non-profit, community coffee-house.

By providing this unique, community-centric form of venue, it has served as a ‘common grounds’ for people of all ages with diverse social, economic and racial backgrounds. While connecting youth with their local art scene, offering inspiration and education in the process. Common Grounds also believes that its presence will lessen the proliferation of violence and drug/alcohol abuse.

The long term vision is for Common Grounds to be a conduit of positive change in the community. Common Grounds provides a place for people to meet their neighbors, engage in cross-generational friendships, and serves as a rallying point from which the Germantown and Mt. Airy communities can spring into social action. This is more than just a coffee shop; it’s a place where everyone can belong.
