Summary

ISC 2017 REOPENS ENTRIES FOR STOCKING STUFFER PROMOTION!  

In the spirit of the upcoming holidays, ISC is re-opening submissions from December 18, 2017 to January 3, 2018 for its annual Stocking Stuffer promotion. Your submission fee is discounted to $25 per entry! 

There is no limit to the number of songs you may enter, and all songs entered will be eligible to win the overall ISC prizes which include over $150,000 in cash, merchandise, and services. This will be the very last chance to enter ISC 2017, so enter now, and Happy Holidays from the ISC team!

The Opportunity

Now in it’s 16th year, ISC is an international songwriting competition open to both amateur and professional songwriters.  The competition is open to both signed and unsigned artists (bands, duos, solo performers, etc.) and winning ISC is a distinction that has propelled many artists to achieve greater success, including getting record and publishing deals, licensing agreements, gigs, and much more.

2017 Judges Include: Tom Waits, Lorde, Perry Farrell (Jane’s Addiction), Nancy Wilson (Heart), Bastille, Hardwell, Ziggy Marley, The Mavericks, John Mayall, Don Omar, to name a few, as well as various industry executives from Elektra, Sire, Warner, Sony, Interscope, and more. For a full list of judges, click here.

Past Winners Include: Vance Joy, Gotye, Bastille, The Band Perry, Kimbra, Gin Wigmore, and Andrew Bird to name a few.

The Band

  • Winners will be selected based on individual songs
  • Professional recording is not required for submitting
  • The Performance category is based not only on songwriting but also the overall performance and delivery of the song. All genres of music are accepted in this category
  • Depending on the category, submissions are judged on the following criteria: Creativity, Originality, Lyrics, Melody, and Arrangement (Some categories may have additional criteria).
  • Note: Teen category entrants must be 18 yrs. old or younger by December 31, 2017. If there are multiple songwriters, they must all adhere to this age requirement.

Categories: AAA (Adult Album Alternative), Adult Contemporary (AC), Americana, Blues, Children's Music, Comedy/Novelty, Country, EDM, Folk/Singer-Songwriter, Instrumental, Jazz, Latin Music, Lyrics Only, Music Video, Performance, Pop/Top 40, R&B/Hip-Hop, Rock, Teen, Unsigned Only, Unpublished & World Music. 

Prize Details:

  • One overall winner will receive 2 free days of recording time at Dark Horse Institute, located outside of Nashville, TN. Travel/lodging not included.
  • Grand Prize Winner will receive $25,000 in cash along with other prizes
  • First, Second, and Third Place winners will also receive prizes from companies like D'Addario, CAD Audio, ONErpm, PreSonus, Harman, Gig Salad, Sweetwater Sound, Musician Wellness, Dark Horse Institute, and more
