The Copenhagen Songwriters Festival was founded in 2009 with a focus on original songcraft and celebration of Danish and international songwriters, new and known, and the songwriter community in Denmark. Over 100 artists from 18 countries performed on three stages daily on the 2009 event, including Jonatha Brooke and Kim Richey (US), Angu (Greenland), Gudrid Hansdottir (Faroe Islands) and Deodato Siquir (Mozambique) - and even more is planned for the 2010 event!

Each selected artist receives at least $350 for performing, in addition to inclusion in the festival program and 2011 festival promotional CD (distributed to dj's and promotors throughout the US and Europe) along with three day event passes, food & drink tickets and personal introductions to leading songwriters and event promotors in Denmark.

The Copenhagen Songwriters Festival is also a charitable fundraiser for Amnesty International, with 20 percent of ticket sales benefiting their work in 2009.

The Listening Room International Songwriter Retreats are led by founder Brett Perkins, who as an active songwriter and artist has multiple albums, song cuts, film and TV placement credits, international song competition wins and 33 countries toured so far since the early 80's. Brett is also the founder of the Copenhagen Songwriters Festival and US/EU Listening Room Concert Series and a frequent artist consultant and guest lecturer for international songwriter organizations, who's past affiliations include CEO/National Academy of Songwriters, Publisher/SongTalk Magazine, Producer/Salute To The American Songwriter Awards, Executive Director/Kerrville Folk Festival Foundation, Founding Partner/Unisong International Song Contest and A&R/TAXI.
