Summary

California State University, East Bay, located in Hayward, CA, will be hosting their Battle of the Lyricists competition. It’s open to ALL Lyricists throughout the Bay Area and beyond. Anyone may submit tracks for consideration to compete in the competition. Only the BEST will be selected to perform on May 2nd and only the VERY BEST will win $500 and the opportunity to share the stage with a headlining artist (T.B.A) at Spring Fest.



Prizes:



  • 1st Place - $500 Contract to open for an A-Artist (like Ludacris or Common) on May 30th 2009 (Spring Fest)

  • 2nd Place - $300 Contract to perform a one-hour set at a Wednesaday - Live@Noon concert at CSU East Bay on a date mutually agreed to by Associated Students and the artist

  • 3rd Place - $100




WANTED: MC’s, crews, rappers, and lyricists! “Battle of the Lyricists” is not to be confused with your everyday freestyle battle. The lyrics are already written, the tracks have been produced, and the sounds have been battle tested in the studios. The top lyricists, hip hop crews, and rappers will compete with their best ORIGINAL tracks to win over $900 in cash prizes. Emphasis is placed on lyricists and originality. True Hip Hop heads will not forget this show!



Please note: Submissions for a Lyricist or a "crew of Lyricists" are limited to no more than 3 persons. Each artist/group must submit their own music/tracks to perform to. Each artist will have 15 minutes of performance time including stage change and sound check. Transportation will not be provided. Associated Students will provide all necessary lights and sound.
